Out Of This World Wire Ceiling Fan Light Separate Switches
The wiring trick that lets you wire a ceiling fan with light to one switch.
Wire ceiling fan light separate switches. You can get duplex switches where 2 switches fit sideways in. Wiring ceiling fan and light with separate switches this method allows you to operate the fan and light power separately. Connect the white wire from the ceiling to the white wire from the fan.
That second wire is usually blue or red. 3 wire cable switch legs from first ceiling outlet down to a 2 gang box for the first set of switches for ceiling fan light control. This video is about how to wire an existing ceiling fan for separate switches to control fan and light.
I explain how i wired a ceiling fan on one part of the switch and the light on the 3 way part of the switch. I opened top cover of fan and traced blue. 3 wire cable from 2 nd ceiling outlet down to the second 2 gang box for fan light control.
Now you should have the outlet always hot and 2 separate switches for the ceiling light fan. You can install a canopy mounted control fan on a dual switch system however the second switch will no longer function. Connect a black wire from the ceiling to the black wire from the fan.
The ceiling fan will have a black wire and another non white wire. Here is a diagram to show how this circuit will be connected. In both switch box and fan light box all grounds should be connected wire nut together.
Your power supply line the black wire should be feeding both switches and those switches power the fan black or the light blue. When you make use of your finger or even the actual circuit together with your eyes it may be easy to mistrace the circuit. I also used a diagram picture thanks for watching.
